Ways to Arrange Decorative Bedroom Cushions

Posted by Sacha Alagich on

There are so many ways to style decorative cushions.

When focusing on a bedroom setting, the bed is the focus, though it is sometimes the soft furnishings which can bring a whole look together. Coordinating with decorative wall hangings, plants or rugs allow decorative cushions to be the link pieces in a colour scheme or print theme to create your relaxation space on which it was intended.

Here are some different styling tips for arranging your bed setting:

LESS IS MORE - With feature cushions it's sometimes best to keep the number of cushions in your display to a minimum to have a greater impact. A few statement cushions or some cushions that coordinate well together in a pleasing colour palette can create a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere

LAYER IT UP - When looking at layering different cushions, using an odd number of cushions works well and can make your bed look more interesting. Using a triangle arrangement by stacking two sets of square cushions in varying sizes and one rectangle in front creates depth and dimension. The eye is instantly drawn to the cushion at front and centre so make sure you keep this focal point interesting

COORDINATING COLOURS - The use of neutral colours within your bed setting and adding highlight cushions in coordinating colours and prints, adds some visual texture and simple pattern to a plain coloured room setting. These coordinating colour themes become a focus with subtle pattern

MIXING COLOURS - Cushions don't always need to coordinate. Using clashing colours that are placed more freely and in a less uniform fashion allows a more relaxed look. You can freshen up with newly introduced seasonal colours to update the look
But remember these are just tips, it's your style so go your own way
